She wanted to know what a gorilla was and who this queen Victoria was, but the sound of a body impacting the sand startled her into turning. Her dangerous wobble sent her staggering, and she grabbed for the nearest support, clearing her throat in apology as it happened to be the unfortunate surly detective's arm. "Oh. Pardon me, Carltun Lassy-turr." It was said with only some attention, her focus on the man that had fallen from the sky. "Land sakes! What're ye doing?! Pretendin' ye have wings? Are ya alright?" Surely, he had to be a little sore. Didn't he know that things without wings could not fly?!
What was an SBPD anyway? Was that some fancy Canterlot nonsense? "Hai there, Nathan. Nice t' meet you. Nice to meet all y'all, really. But-" Did that Carltun just say...no, he didn't. He was still accusing her of lying about being a pony?! "Now, listen here, Mister Lassy-turr! Ah'm telling ye the honest truth, and Ah don't know why ye keep being so stubborn. Ah am from Ponyville, and Ah didn't do this nonsense!"
And then there was a voice in her head, the voice of a little filly. It stunned her into silence, green eyes widened to the size of saucers. "Wh-wh-whut? How did-" Unicorn magic. It had to be unicorn magic. "Did y'all say something? Why do y'all sound like fiillies? That ain't right!"
Her gaze followed the others' skyward, the sight of a familiar flying shape startling her into a delighted laugh. "Well, as Ah live and breathe! Don't y'all know what a dragon is?!" Not that dragons were particularly nice critters, but they were familiar ones, at least. She didn't know what these funny two-legged things were, but dragons...those she knew. "Funny, though. Ah ain't never seen one that shiny."

Castiel took his gaze from the skies to look at the oldest man of the group. "I do not believe you have been drugged," if it was possible, his voice seemed even more gravelly than before he was brought here. He cleared his throat by coughing, an unfamiliar gesture for the angel. "The child is correct. Whoever brought us here would not remain."
Castiel then turned to the female, regarding her with his ever-unwavering gaze. "I was not flying. I was dropped here." He suddenly realized the last of what she said, and whipped his head back toward the shape in the sky. The woman was correct, the shape in the sky was definitely a dragon. "That shouldn't be possible. Dragons haven't existed for thousands of years." The thought of his mortality suddenly gripped him. He had no powers and no weapons. He had no way to defeat the creature, nor a way to heal someone if they became injured. "If I am correct, we should prepare to run. In the past, dragons were vicious creatures that killed without thought or care." He stared at the oncoming dragon, tensed for battle or escape.

Cautiously, as Haelyn had advised her, Riklith observed the group down below. They definitely seemed more lively now that she had reached out for them. But, judging by their reactions, they hadn’t seemed relieved at her presence. If anything, they seemed more confused and even alarmed by her. The only woman of the group seemed to be the outlier of the group, and that came as a moderate consolation for her. She reported such back instantly to Haelyn, who merely frowned. Perhaps they were holdless—that might explain why they weren’t so receptive of seeing a dragon. However, the confusion still needled at her mind, and it was her duty to at least check if they were alright.
Take us down, Riklith. Slow and easy, don’t cover them with sand. Haelyn adjusted her grip on the riding straps, watching the group carefully.
With a push forward into the currents, Riklith sent herself into a lazy spiral. This was interesting and new – new people for her to meet and befriend, after all! However, their apprehension made her a bit disheartened. Hopefully she might be able to change their opinion of her; after all, she was a nice dragon. Or, so she believed. As she readied to land, she let out a surprised bark at the remark the man in the long coat advised to the others. Vicious?! I’ve only ever killed herdbeasts![/i] Her wing skimmed the sand, sending a small flare of golden sand arching into the air. Oops. Forgive me.[/i] She gently back-winged, landing as neatly as she could, wings folding neatly against her back.
With a soft laugh, Haelyn unfastened the straps holding her in, shifting over to the edge of her shoulder. Riklith lifted her arm, giving her rider a support step before she slid down to the sandy ground. Well, here went everything. Sliding her riding goggles up onto her forehead, she started to close the gap between herself and the strangers of the desert. “Hello! I’m Haelyn of Riklith,” She gestured to the golden dragon who settled behind her, watching with curious eyes. “Riders of Igen Weyr. Are you lost?” Her gaze shifted between the five of them, noting with alarm that the woman of the group was, in fact, unclothed, as well as a youngster placed amongst the group. None of their attire was familiar to her of any Weyr or Hold – local or distant. This was becoming even more confusing, and strange. Unprotected, in the middle of desert, in the beginning of a pass? Granted, threadfall wasn’t due soon, but still…

Magic, dragons...was there something more to the new ability he'd been given? "What is this, Dungeons and Dragons?" He glanced at Carlton, considering the man's suggestion that he had been drugged. Nathan wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, although with him it was far more likely that he'd taken the drugs voluntarily. He'd been in prison, though.
Nothing made sense. And after all he'd been through, that was saying a lot.
He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to envision being home, transported back to Marnie and the hotel room in an instant. He didn't feel the well of possibility that he had gotten used to, though. For the first time, Nathan felt truly terrified, not just confused.
When he opened his eyes again, the shiny dragon was in front of them, and there was a woman jumping down to the ground.
"Where are we? he demanded, his voice rising to a shout. Finally, someone who seemed to know what was going on, even if she was riding in on the strangest thing yet.

There were a great many things he had learned to tolerate in the last few years. Hell, for being confused and with the memory of the previous night plaguing him, his patience with the current situation should have earned him a nomination to sainthood. But like hell was he going to have a child tell him that he knew more about his job than he did. And in that tone, too.
"Unless they wanted to see what their plans had achieved firsthand. Sewing the seeds of chaos -- a perp stays close to the scene for those. They want to see the damage to prove how smart they are." He pointedly glared at the child. No longer merely a tool to make him look like a fool -- the kid was a suspect same as everyone else. "And acting like they're one of us? Gives them the perfect opportunity to see this to the end."
The 'pony' was speaking again, emphasizing his last name in a way that could only mean... Spencer. Of course. He knew Carlton had wanted a horse when he was younger. He had been conveniently out of town the previous evening. He had been under Carlton's radar, planning this... whatever it was. It was the only logical explanation, and nothing sounded better on a morning like this than cold, hard logic.
Not that Carlton had made a habit of waking up in strange places with strange people, but he wouldn't pretend this wasn't his first circus act he'd run into.
That didn't explain the voice in his head, though. In fact, it didn't explain much of anything, but he resolutely decided that someone specific had played the worst joke on him, and like hell was he going to let them see how confused and irate he was.
He'd play the fool for now and wait for his chance. Smiling somewhat insincerely, he said to her. "Of course. You're a pony from Ponyville named Applejack. I should have been listening. So distracted with the desert and that-"
Wait, did she say dragon?
Carlton's eyes darted upwards again, blinking several times at the harsh light. No. Absolutely not. No. Though now that she'd said it, he could somewhat see what she meant. He took a steadying breath and reminded himself not to be so easily tricked. It couldn't be a real dragon because dragons weren't real. Simple.
When someone else decided to tell him how to do his job, Carlton snapped, "When you have your Master's degree in Criminal Justice, then you can tell me how to do my job."
That voice was back, invading his head in a way that he couldn't explain. Carlton clenched his teeth and snorted an irritated huff. This wasn't real. Impressive display of holographics or whatever they were, but it wasn't real all the same.
The woman walking towards them was a bit of a surprise.
Carlton, having decided that he was one, the most sane member of the group and two, therefore the group's spokesperson, called back, trying to sound casual instead of giving voice to the panic rising in the back of his head, "I'd say so. Which way to Vegas?"

Ciel found himself highly amused at the fact Carlton suddenly went on defensive when he and the other guy pointed out that someone wasn't likely to stick around, but he pointed ignored him. It was only foolish villans that stuck around to see something like this follow through, besides the fact that none of them here were in any condition to drug anyone. The other man had fallen from the sky mere minutes before, Nathan was hung over from what he could determine, Applejack was unclothed and very clearly uneducated in his eyes, and he himself had merely awoken here after being tucked into his bed in England. Yes, one of them surely drugged Carlton. Foolish man, he thought with a mental scoff. If he called himself a detective, it was really no wonder that the Queen called on him to take care of all the cases that Scotland yard floundered on. And he thought the Inspector was bad, apparently Americans were worse.
With a shake of his head, he noticed that the dragon had landed and a woman was dismounting it. She called herself Haelyn... and the dragon's name was Riklith? How interesting, they appeared to actually be partners. And the dragon - Riklith - had manners, that was definitely something he hadn't expected. But it was nice for a change, quite obviously the people around him were lacking in that department. He was pleased though when the woman asked if they were lost, at least she could help them.
At least until Nathan and Carlton stepped up and were talking... Nathan was actually quite rude. Did he not understand the way to talk to a lady? Perhaps he was a less fortunate man in the world though, he obviously held no rank in the British kingdom, not even a small lord. A mere commoner then, it made sense. And where was this Vegas? He had heard them talking about it before, but Vegas wasn't on any map that he had looked at - though then again neither was Equestria.
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose again. These idiots were giving him a headache... and he hadn't had his tea today. Or his scone... he really wanted them. But first he had to get through this chaos of people around him. Hopefully Miss Haelyn could answer the question of where they were, and maybe then he could get some damned tea. But for now he would stay silent, after all, it was better to look the part of innocent lost child then someone who was obviously more intelligent than those around him.
