[Dean Winchester]
Age: 33
Gender: Male
Rank: Lost
Fandom: Supernatural
Canon Pull Point: Post 7.23 “Survival of the Fittest”, instead of ending up in Purgatory with Castiel, Dean finds himself surrounded by an expanse of sand.
Appearance: Handsome, as self-described, and to his advantage, true. Standing at 6’1” (1.85m), he’s of medium build, and is somewhat bow-legged. He has his short light brown hair faux hawk, and his eyes are hazel-green.
On the surface, Dean is light-hearted and laidback, carrying himself with confidence and efficiency.
At the point of the pull, he’s wearing a brown leather jacket over a green cargo shirt and black tee, and a pair of blue denim jeans (x). He’s also sporting a five o’clock shadow, and a justifiably shocked face.
Personality: Dean is fiercely loyal to his family, even if his family's nothing like the traditional sense of the word. He feels strongly responsible for those he cares about and will protect them even at the cost of his life.
Headstrong and stubborn, he usually finds it difficult to ask for help (unless it's from someone he feels close to) and prefers to do things his way. He sees most situations in black and white, and when it comes to it, he’ll do what he thinks is right without question or ruth, even if it will risk his relationship with the people he cares about.
Dean doesn’t trust people easily, and it would take a while for anyone to earn his fully. He rarely talks about his personal experiences, not even one as tremendous as returning from the pits of hell; he tends to avoid emotional intimacy and evades attempts of such nature, so don’t even try to hug him (unless you are either Sam or Castiel, and you both have not seen each other in a long while).
When it comes to hunting, he’s known to be incredibly focused and unwavering- though since hell, his passion for saving people has blurred with his hatred for supernatural beings, becoming more aggressive with killing them. He has, on multiple hunts, exhibited intelligence through impromptu strategies, only abandoning them by running headfirst into situations where time is scarce.
Dean claims to “enjoy sunsets, long walks on the beach, and frisky women”. Joke (or is it) aside, he does like to take life one step at a time, occasionally indulging in simple things like watching television, eating junk food, and pornography. He can be immature at times, ranging from making pop culture references, to inappropriate comments and sexual innuendos.
Although Dean has an affinity to no-strings sex (though dwindling in recent years), he’s had two romantic relationships in the past and has tried rekindling each years later.
History: Two months short of Dean's fifth birthday, there was a fire that claimed his mother (or so he thought initially) and the only house he had for a proper home. He watched his house burn from the street, a grieving father by his side and in his arms, a baby brother. After the fire, his family moved from town to town, motel to motel, never staying long enough to forge meaningful relationships with anyone else. His father taught him to fend his younger brother, Sam, and himself against the supernatural while he was out on his hunting trips.
There were times he grew weary from caring for Sam, but the one time he had placed his own interests before his brother, he came back to find him under attack, saved by their father showing up in the nick of time. The guilt he had kept him to his responsibilities, but he spent his childhood feeling like he'd never have his father's approval. Despite this, he followed his father's footsteps, choosing the life of a hunter because he wanted to save people and it was the only life he’d ever known.
When Sam left for college to lead a 'normal' life, Dean continued hunting monsters and saving people on his own, his father very much absent but in touch. Then his father went AWOL longer than expected, and he headed to Stanford to look to his brother for help. Initially intending to help Dean just once, Sam lost his then girlfriend in the same way they lost their mother. Both embarked on a series of breadcrumb cases to trace their father.
They found him later but lost him shortly after when their father bargained with a crossroads demon to exchange his life for Dean's, who would otherwise have died in a coma. Dean and Sam continued to hunt, still searching for the yellow-eyed demon that had other plans for Sam, and for a way to free their father’s soul from hell - a result of a crossroads deal. Together with old friends of their father’s, Bobby and Ellen, they uncovered the demons' plot to open a gateway to Hell. In an attempt to close the gateway, Sam died. Unwilling to go through another loss, Dean met another crossroads demon to trade his life in stead of his brother’s, and that his life would forfeit in a year.
Though he had freed his father’s soul from Hell, there was no way out for Dean in the crossroads deal; he ended up in hell, where he was tortured for 30 years (equivalent to 3 months on Earth) before succumbing to a deal that sees him off the rack, torturing other souls instead. And he did that for 10 years until an angel, Castiel, pulled him out of Hell and resurrected him back on Earth.
Dean learned that he had been the catalyst to an upcoming apocalypse because of what he had done in Hell, and that he and his brother were instrumental in the angel-demon war, but not liking the outcome of becoming vessel to archangel Michael and having to kill Sam before Lucifer takes Sam as a vessel, Dean and Sam spent their time evading both entities to look for a different solution. Unfortunately, there was nothing they had that could kill Lucifer, Sam persuaded Dean that the best solution was to have Sam accept Lucifer into his body and attempt to retain enough control to have him and Lucifer trap back into the Cage. And that there would be no more Winchester sacrifices, that Dean would lead the normal life that he wanted, having been jaded by the hunting lifestyle. At the height of their plans, Michael showed up, using Adam (a half-brother the Winchesters never knew they had until the angels revealed so) as a vessel, and both Lucifer and Michael were pushed back down into Lucifer’s Cage along with their vessels.
For a year, Dean stayed with his old flame, Lisa, and her son, Ben, before Sam intervened - he had apparently been back for a year. It turned out that Crowley had resurrected both Sam and their grandfather, Samuel, and had played them like pawns in order to find Purgatory, an untapped source of power for the new King of Hell. However, Sam’s resurrection had been incomplete as his soul was still trapped in Lucifer’s Cage. Dean sought help from Death to regain Sam’s soul and Adam from the Cage, but was forced to pick only one - so he picked Sam. While finding Purgatory, it turned out that Castiel had been working with Crowley all along.
Losing faith in Castiel, he looked for a way to stop the wayward angel, whose powers were then boosted by absorbing the souls from Purgatory. Castiel came around however, and Dean helped him release the souls back into Purgatory, saved for the Leviathans - God’s first creation that were too destructive for the world. Dean watched them destroy Castiel and disperse into a lake. He and Sam spent the next few months lying low and devising plans to dispose of the Leviathans, who by then had permeated society. With a familiar demon’s help, they found Castiel again, and together they defeated the Leviathans by staking their leader with a special weapon, inducing the Leviathan to explode, and those in his vicinity splattered by his remains were pulled along with his essence straight to Purgatory.
Except Dean didn’t end up in Purgatory.
