Molly is good at reading people, and she can often tell when they are upset or something is wrong. In that instant she'll try to do something to help, even if that person has been mean to her on one occasion. Everyone deserves someone to be nice to them in Molly's mind.
She is sort of hopeless romantic, and even if the person she's interested in doesn't seem altogether interested back, she holds hope in her heart that they'll change their minds. With this said, she is a little oblivious. Someone could be using her for something and she may not even notice. She is a little naive.
Most of all, Molly feels ordinary. She feels like she had nothing special about herself and when one looks at her, they may be even able to tell. She even acknowledges that she believes she'll stay single forever, for suitors don't have any reasons to like her.

The lack of her parents presence around much meant they never made her feel special or pretty or told her either of those things, and she had no friends to do so either. She grew up in the shadow of everyone else and never learned to get past it.
High school was hard. She hung out with a few people, but no major friendships ever came or carried through to adulthood.
In her twenties she went to college to be a doctor, but as a child she had expressed a morbid liking for the dead. In the end, she became a mortician. She spent her time at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London, working with the dead and causing her to have even less social activity.
This is where she met Sherlock Holmes, a man she was infatuated with. She did everything she could to get him to notice her, but a large majority of attempts were shut down or went unnoticed. Molly in the end only ended up getting hurt.
