Diedro had time on her hands, between Sparkle giving up her life of crime for motherhood and the lack of any patrols being assigned to her tonight. She had tried everything as a form of entertainment. Dangling a feather on a string in front of Diesk's nose. Poking Sparkle until the firelizard got irritated and started sending her random, bright colors through their mental link. She'd even tried touching up on Diesk's straps! But alas, there was only one thing that called to Diedro tonight.
The wall was singing its siren song; 'Diedro, climb me! Annoy all the riders and scale to the skies! You know you waaaant toooo!' Who was Diedro to be cruel and reject the wall? Theirs was a harsh love, but love nonetheless. So she set off towards her one true love, Diesk following behind her and buzzing with excitement. He wanted to climb too, even if he didn't share the deep love between woman and cliff.
Diedro looked around the Weyrbowl as she slipped out of the caverns entrance, mostly to make sure that there were no riders who would be inconvenienced by her free style climbing. "We're not going high up today, Diesk. Not even a dragonlength. Just high enough. That way, you can come with me." Some parts of the walls were rockier then others, with jutting edges that could hold Diesk's weight. That was where they were heading.
Upon reaching her chosen wall, Diedro leaned forward and stretched out her arms, pressing her palms against the rock in a parody of a hug. "Oh, wall! I missed you! But i'm back now." Back to climb all the things. She looked to her wher, reaching out to scritch him behind the headknobs. "You ready, Diesk?"
The wher growled, bright reds and oranges blooming over their mental bond. Diedro took that as a 'born ready' and grinned down at him. "I bet I can get higher up then you."
The green snorted and stamped his feet on the ground. He'd like to see her try.

There were certain things one came to expect after living at the Weyr for four Turns. Dragons both with and without their riders showing off in the sky, fairs of flits seeking handouts or stolen portions from what the Kitchens couldn't use, wher patrols turned more into games of chases than serious business. Yes, Igen Weyr was infinitely a lively place.
What one didn't expect to find -- not usually, though there had been talk -- was a green wher and a handler attempting to scale the Weyrbowl wall. Oxasar paused, taking in the scene with more than a little amusement. Behind them, Oxask nudged their back, intending for them to keep moving and not stop, but Oxasar, unlike their grumpy wher, desperately wanted to be nosy.
"We could do that," they murmured. Oxask wasn't as sure, but his hesitancy was barely a blip on Oxasar's radar before they were running towards the wall, tied-back red hair streaming like a ribbon behind them. Oxask bounded quickly after His, determined to keep them out of trouble as best he could and keep them from attempting to follow the other pair up the dragon's cliff.
Oxasar stopped by the bottom of the cliff, grinning cheerily as they called out, "Hello!" They glanced at the wall as if it wasn't obvious what was going on. "Where're you going?"
Oxask bumped his head against Oxasar's back again with a quiet warble of discontent. This could only end one way, and Oxask knew that if Oxasar started climbing, he would be right behind His. Even if he didn't want to be.

Diedro hadn't expected company, really. Few wherhandlers loved the heavens as much as she did, and it seemed that most of her kind preferred their feet on the ground rather then in the air. Dragonriders had their beasts if they craved the sky, as well. So she was quite surprised at hearing a voice, looking down at the figure below. "Hey!" She greeted with an overly exuberant wave, fingers digging into the rock. Her skin protested against the tight grip, but Diedro didn't really care.
Diesk was farther down then her, perched on a ledge like a mountain goat. The green peered down at the bronze, chuffing a greeting to his larger kin. He lifted his head, an unspoken challenge in the proud tilt of his jaw and the lifting of his wings. He was the best wher! Just look at how high up he was! What other wher could climb as well as Diesk? Surely none! "Growph." He called down.
"Oh, no where in particular." Diedro yelled, shifting her weight onto a more stable portion of rock. "Diesk is getting fat and lazy, so I decided we needed to go for a climb! Care to join us?" A savage smile danced across her face as she looked over her shoulder. "Unless you're afraid of heights, of course! No shame in that." No shame at all.
"That's a good lookin' bronze you've got there! My name's Diedro, and that's Diesk." She had quite the set of lungs on her, hollering all that down at poor Ox. "Don't think I've talked to you before." She began to climb down, finding foot holds with the ease. "Sometimes I carve foot-holds for the riders. I've got a nice set on this side, so it shouldn't be too hard if you want to join me. There are a few ledges that can hold weight, but they're too far apart for me."

Oxasar looked at the ease with which the other wherhandler dealt with the climb. Having never done anything of the sort, they couldn't help but wonder if it would be such smooth sailing, but the challenge was too much to resist. With a wide grin, they answered, "I think we can handle it."
Oxask remained unsure, but as he watched His begin searching for a place to start, he knew there was no getting out of this. He snorted at Diesk's confidence -- he was aware of how much bigger and bulkier he was than the green. But if Oxasar wouldn't back down, Oxask wasn't going to either.
"That's the spirit," Oxasar said, dropping a hand to pat and skritch at Oxask's head. Oxask jumped for the wall, scrambling for purchase before falling back to the ground. Oxasar reached out over their mental bond, showing him the small ledges and jutting rocks that he'd have to use as opposed to brute strength.
His would not let him fall. Oxask tried again, pulling himself up onto a low ledge as Oxasar hefted themself up, pulling on the handholds as their feet found purchase. They called up to Diedro as they followed the path she'd already set, "I'm Oxasar, and that's my Oxask. Nice to meet you!" They tossed their head enough to get some of their hair out of their eyes before searching for another way to climb up.
It was scary, but that, they thought, was what made it interesting and worth trying. Trying to seem calmer than they felt, they asked, "You do this often?"
