Ah! New arrivals. A bit late, but Diedro was okay with that. The woman cast a quick grin at Lucy and Dean, waving her uninjured hand at them and tucking the injured one behind her back discreetely. "Welcome to the hatching. Take a strip of meat and feed a hatchling if it comes over to you or I hand it to you. If you don't, it'll start eating the others or die! You know, starving baby animals and all that." Hopefully, they knew what Impression was, because Diedro was not repeating that whole long, exhausting conversation.
"Once you feed them, name them and they're yours!" She added, just in case they didn't know that little bit of knowledge. Then she turned to her wher, lifting his head by the chin and carefully examining the scratches on his face. "He didn't get you bad, you whiny wher. You'll be fine."
Meanwhile, None Greater was starving. Really, really starving. He had been planning to hide inside of his fortress and launch an ambush on the humans for Great Glory, but the rumbling in his stomach was reminding him of how bad his plan had been. Perhaps he should have just let the human capture him.
The little green made his decision, wriggling in his hiding place. He would get a human, yes. He would get a human, use them for food, and then he would get Glory and Honor. Perhaps with the human, if they were cool enough. But only if they were cool, and trustworthy, and not planning on turning him into firelizard boots. Satisfied with his choice, the green crept cautiously from his fortress.
Then he let out a shrieking war cry and launched off of the counter. The little green screeched, diving straight towards Dean and landing upon his shoulders. "Skreep!" He announced himself with a shuffling of his wings. The green chattered proudly, showing off the 'war wounds' he had gotten from his scrap with his brother to the human. None were serious, mostly just little scrapes and bruises. But he was still proud of them!
Diedro relaxed now that the trouble making green had supposedly settled down, sighing. "I told you guys he'd calm down." She said smugly. "Good luck with that one. He's a real scrapper." Diedro advised. "Feed him until he's full, alright? Don't want him going after the others."
None Greater gave her a baleful look from his spot on Dean's shoulder.

When the next fire lizard came out of its shell, Castiel was astonished by the ferocity of its attack on its piteous blue brother. He was equally shocked when the blue lizard turned to attack the green with a savage defense. Seeing them pulled apart, though, he relaxed some. He tensed when the green fled to the counters and the small blue fire lizard charged toward him, only to leap and soar over his head. He turned to see it land on the shoulder of Haelyn. He smiled, thinking she would take very good care of the creature.
When he turned back around, there was a beautiful purplish-blue fire lizard just coming out of its egg. Castiel was intrigued by the calm way it chirped to Diedro, seeming to ask her a question. He chuckled, finding the creature amusing. Then Diedro smiled at him, and he became confused. He was even more confused when she handed the fire lizard to him. Castiel cradled her in his arms, close to his chest, and stared into the rainbow facets of her whirling eyes.
It was an unfamiliar feeling, that which she instilled in him. It was almost like when he first beheld mankind, but it felt more raw in his current human state. There was a warmth budding in his belly, which spread through his chest and up to his cheeks, coloring them pink. He beamed at this beautiful creature, such was the love that he held for her.
Castiel spoke quietly, as if it were only him and his fire lizard, "Hello, there. I have a name for you...would you like to know it?" The purple one cheeped enthusiastically. "I would like to call you Seraphim, one of the greatest of my Father's angels." She wasn't at all sure what an angel was, but she very much liked her name. She purred softly, then shuffled up to perch on his shoulder. "Oh, you are hungry." He was surprised by the urgency of the hunger that came into his mind. He quickly ripped the meat he held into small pieces for Seraphim. She scarfed them down as fast as he could give them to her, and started demanding more. He glanced around, not really wanting to get off the floor. He called out, his voice gravelly as ever, "Excuse me, miss. Would you hand me that bowl of meat?" The small drudge nodded her assent, grabbed the bowl, and crossed the short distance to Castiel. He grabbed a small handful of the meat, nodded his thanks to the woman, and continued on with Seraphim, completely oblivious to the happenings of the room.

In a dark corner of the kitchen, something stirred.
Nathan had spent the night before sampling Igen's wine stores. He didn't remember what else he did, really. The wine must have been very good. As he slowly sat up, he realized once more that Pern wasn't just a dream. He was still here.
More importantly right now, though, why was everyone being so loud? "Hng." Nathan rubbed his eyes, which burned even in the glow light. He recognized some of the people who had landed in the desert with him. They were holding mini dragon things, some of which were screeching loudly.
Nathan groaned and put his head back down on the table.

The Good Fortune egg had finally made the choice to enter the world and boy did it enter it. The egg practically exploded, with bits of egg-shell raining around as the little firelizard inside burst to freedom. The Burning Brightly brown screeched as she fought to the outside world, stumbling forward and rolling to the counter-top. "Freeep!"
The brown shook herself off, wrinkling her snout at the trails of goop still attached to her hide. "Frrrroop! Grawp!" She complained, stomping her feet on the counter. This would not do! There was goop on her! Goop was gross! She was going to destroy the goop! So she bit at it.
The goop did not taste good, so now there was an even unhappier baby firelizard.
Diedro reached for the baby firelizard, only for the little brown to hiss and leap away. Burning Brightly was not going to be grabbed by the wherhandler! She wasn't going to be taken by the man! She was a free firelizard! Free, she told you, free! The little brown darted down the counter, knocking over multiple small bowls before leaping into the air.
She proceeded to land on Nathan's back. "Freep?" She questioned, crawling onto his shoulder and peering at his face. Why was he putting his head down? Was he sick? Boooring. Well, he should feed her. Or she was going to eat his hair! The firelizard inched slowly closer to his hair, mouth gaped slightly.
Her eyes were whirling with rainbows, though. Congratulations, Nathan. This won't help your headache at all.

Leonard listened as a couple of the locals explained what could be expected if a firelizard (or apparently any of this world's draconian species) bonded with a human, and what would happen if they weren't given food as soon as they'd hatched. Apparently, not feeding them promptly meant that they would go a little Hannibal Lecter. Leonard balked. They weren't so cute now, now that he knew.
He took an uneasy step back, trying to calculate the probability of this hallucination suddenly taking a cannibalistic turn for the worse. He was so caught up in solving the logistics that when the person he could only assume was in charge thrust a hatchling in his hand, he hadn't even processed receiving the creature until it was already clambering up the sleeve of his jacket and onto his shoulder.
"Oh, dear," Leonard said. "Um," he said. "I don't really think--"
As if on cue, the brown began chirping his goddamn ear off.
Leonard winced, knowing that he had impressed. He could feel it, the firelizard's mind pushing against his own. Jesus, it was loud. He was loud, Leonard corrected, so demanding when he mentally thrust a tidal wave of information for Leonard to process. At the top of the list, Leonard couldn't help but note, was the brown's apparent craving for food. He wanted food. He was hungry. Feed him.
The brown licked Leonard's face, more than pleased that Leonard could join him on the same page. Acceptably intelligent, his was. Admittedly suitable.
Leonard shook his head. This was insane, but at least the thing had quieted down. Heaven forbid that screeching had continued. With the way it had carried on, there might have been bloodshed or something, which--oh damn. Leonard remembered. He needed to feed the thing before it got all Silence of the Lambs up in here.
He frantically pushed his way through the crowd, and grabbed the biggest piece of meat that he could find. Offering it to the brown, he said, "Here, it's all yours. Please and I beg you, eat up."
The brown reached out tentatively at first, inspecting the meat with a series of sniffs before deeming it good enough for consumption. He nipped at the edges to make sure that the taste was satisfactory, then snapped the rest of it up in a matter of seconds.
Oh, God, Leonard realized with dawning and numbing clarity. Vocal, demanding, irrationally finicky and co-dependent. He turned to face the firelizard on his shoulder, and was met by a pair of swirling blue eyes. The brown was just like Sheldon.
He could feel the tiny gears turning inside the creature's head, and the sudden burst of happiness when the brown realized that Leonard had compared him not only to a genius but to Leonard's best friend. The brown gave a confident chirp and held his head up high. He would be the best Sheldon for Leonard, he would.
Leonard didn't even know what to say. Maybe Pern was hell. He was in hell and Sheldon was his punishment for-- God, Leonard wasn't sure, but he was really, really sorry.
He sighed, glancing around the pit of his eternal damnation and noticed that two of the people seemed strangely familiar.
"No," Leonard said, staring at them in disbelief. "Why this?" He hadn't honestly thought he was in hell, but now there were Supernatural characters popping up in his subconscious and Leonard really didn't know what to make of that. "Dean and Castiel?" he tried, his voice coming out strained before falling undeniably flat. "I'm actually in hell, aren't I."

There was only one egg left in the hatching, and only one person left without a firelizard. Diedro smiled at Lucy, giving her a light wave with her uninjured hand. "Alright. Once this little one comes out, it's all yours. Get ready!" She advised, looking towards the lightly colored egg. She leaned down, ready to capture the firelizard so it didn't have a chance to escape and Impress to someone who already had a firelizard hatchling.
The Serene Grace egg had quite the sedate entrance into the world. The firelizard inside had been chipping away all this time, slowly widening a hole in the front of the egg. Now, the infant freed itself. The Tranquil Angel blue freed herself with minimal effort now, stepping gently from her egg.
She didn't protest as Diedro scooped her up, settling in the wherhandlers hand and blinking up at her with serene, blue eyes. "No, i'm not for you. You want this nice young lady." Diedro said, handing the blue off to Lucy. "Here you go. Treat her nicely, alright?" She said, smiling down at the last of Sparkle's hatchlings.
Tranquil Angel perched herself in Lucy's hand, tilting her head up at the girl. Well, it would seem that she had missed a great deal of chaos. That was fine with Tranquil Angel. She preferred more... calm... affairs then the antics of her siblings. The blue wrapped her tail around Lucy's wrist.
Diedro brushed a bit of dust off of herself, collecting the basket and eggshells. "Well. That's it for the eggs. Thanks, guys. If you need any help with training, I live in the wherhandler quarters with Diesk. I'll probably set up a few lessons for the very basics. Sparkle will deliver a note with the location and time to you. It's up to you if you want to attend." The bronze trilled, shuffling her wings and rubbing her head against Diedro's head.
"The hatchlings need to be oiled at least twice a day, after they eat. Feed them every time they ask, until they're full. They're going to spend most of the first few weeks asleep. That's normal, so don't panic." She instructed, her tone quite business-like. This situation was starting to grate on her, though, so it was obvious that she just wanted to wrap this up and leave. "Keep them with you as much as possible. The more time you spend with them, the stronger your bond will be."
With a yawn, she stretched. "I have to go on patrol now. Good luck." Then she left, Diesk trailing behind her. The wher gave a parting grunt to Applejack, before loping off after his handler.

Holy freakin’ hell, that aggressive lil’ thing flew right at him. Dean tried to dodge it lest it went all cujo on him, but it, surprisingly, deftly maneuvered over, around and onto his shoulders, screeching at him. "Whoa-" he reached a hand out to push the firelizard away, pausing midway when he knew- somehow just knew he wasn't going to maul him. "Woah there," he said again, softer this time, an all familiar hunger - but not his - setting in. He should feed him. He felt like he needed to feed him. What had she said again- if he did that, they would be, what, bonded? And if he didn't, he'd attack others? Fudge it, this was kind of cool, and he was inexplicably growing fond of the green devil anyway, whose talons were firmly latched onto his shoulder, peering at him with bright eyes, waiting for his grand achievements to be awarded with food. Funny little thing. He made his way to the table, where there was a large bowl of meat- mostly a large bowl that had some handful of meat left. Dean was tempted to take everything, for he was ravenous. He frowned, however, and took as much as what he'd seen the others do earlier; the firelizard threw him an indignant look before craning forward to snatch the meat up from his outstretched hand, and gobbled it down. As his appetite began to sate, Dean grew aware of the chattering in the kitchen, so he glanced around to see what the other people were up to. The friendly, tall blonde was still attending to the others, repeating helpful advice, many others were familiarising with their own little beasts, another semi-passed out with one chewing on his hair- and that was when he noticed Castiel standing to the side of the kitchen, a remarkably serene, purplish-blue firelizard in his arms. Hrrmph-- his firelizard snorted, nipping the air by his ear and shifting his weight between his left and right legs to gain Dean's attention. Dean, who hadn't yet bestowed a name upon him. Dean, who responded by tapping him on his muzzle. "Well, aren't you just charming." He unfolded and folded his wings, agreeing literally, if not with the sentiment. Maybe Jaws? He did have plenty of teeth. At this point, the blonde spoke out loud with a set of instructions to the room. Shit- she was serious, wasn’t she? This was his now. Dean wasn’t sure how he felt about that- this whole world was already a lot to take in. The lil’ beast swelled up and lithely climbed over to his other shoulder. He was a proud one, really energetic too and he was trying to convince Dean he would ; he was sure going to be a handful. He could be like a sidekick, the Robin to his Batman. Yeah, that could do.“Robin.” Robin swooped into the air, delighted with his new name, excitedly flying right by an exasperated-looking bespectacled guy, whizzing over his firelizard.

Nathan really wanted to just pass out. The screeching was getting louder, and each sound felt like a sledgehammer to his brain. Then, he felt a weight on his back, and claws working their way up to his shoulder. He flinched, imagining some giant Pern spider. Sitting up, he opened his eyes again, reluctantly. He found himself looking into the whirling rainbow ones of a little dragon thing. She let out an inquisitive chirp directly in his ear, and he flinched.
"Shh..." Every movement hurt, but this was also kind of cool. Something about this mini dragon tugged at his heartstrings, too. And his stomach. Despite his nausea, he now felt conflictingly starving as well. Blinking in the light, he looked around and saw other folks feeding the creatures.
"Okay, I guess I can feed you," Nathan said, hoping she would stop making noises then. Hey, how did he know the brown dragon thing was female, anyway? Shaking his head slightly, he got to his feet and stumbled over to get some of the remaining meat.
The dragonling gobbled down the food he offered. Nathan looked up as Diedro explained what they were supposed to do. Sounded like a lot of work, but probably worth it to have a small dragon riding on your shoulder.
Wait...bond? Was that why he could feel things from his new pet? That was interesting. Maybe he would be able to understand it more when didn't feel so sick. "I guess if we're bonded, you need a name. I should call you Hangover." She hissed at that, and he chuckled. "Hmm, your hide is kinda red. How about Ruby?" She didn't complain at that one, so it seemed to be the right choice.

"The next one's mine?" she murmured. Well, Diedro had mentioned something like that earlier, but Lucy hadn't quite believed it at the time. She turned her attention to the last egg in the basket. A little blue snout was poking out of its shell, and then, gracefully slipped out into the world. And oh, it was a beauty, that one.
The woman handed her the baby firelizard. "Treat her nicely, alright?"
Lucy nodded, bringing it (her) close to her chest, carefully keeping her forearm flat so the baby wouldn't slip. It (she) looked up at her with those blue eyes that were starting to tinge with red. Listening to the instructions the woman was giving, Lucy offered her the meat strip she was holding. She,definitely a she, those features would be wasted on a boy, snatched the meat and scarfed it down so fast that Lucy was afraid she would choke, but her blue girl didn't seem fazed.
She nuzzled Lucy's now empty hand. More?
"Smaller pieces, though," she told her. The blue nodded.
Where had the bowl of meat scraps gone? Lucy looked around, and seeing Dean feeding his green, walked over. She gave him a small smile as a way of greeting, but turned her attention to the business of feeding her new friend.
She fed her blue girl until the hunger pains went away. The blue's eyelids were starting to droop. Her eyes were blue again, with the tiniest hint of green. They reminded her a bit of Mira-san. "Maybe I should call you Mira?" The firelizard raised her head. Lucy shook her head. No, no, naming her after someone from home, it would be liking giving up ever seeing them again. "What about Miessa, instead?" The firelizard cocked its head. "I guess you don't like that one? Well, what about, no, Alrami's a boy's name. Deneb is too, come to think of it." Lucy hmmed. "Do you like Spica?"
The firelizard chirped happily; she liked that one.
Lucy smiled, stroking her back with a finger. Spica settled on Lucy's right forearm, her tail wrapped around her wrist, and her claws digging somewhat painfully into her skin. She found she didn't mind. Although, if Spica insisted on sleeping there, she should see about getting a bracer of some sort.
